Roll call for AnimeExpo 2009!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Okay - taking a roll call for AnimeExpo 2009 here.  Let me here you say “present” - out loud!  No excuses people!  You know our booth number, it’s “801!”  So who’s coming!?  I can’t believe it’s just one month away!  I will be helping supervising everyone here for prepping and loading the truck!  Oh, yes, we will be selling 801 Media books there - so please be sure to bring ID! If anyone has specific request or questions about AX - pleeeez! don’t hesitate to ask!

Alright - on to the local news:
Today’s Weather  outside = Gloomy.  Misty & drizzle rain.  Makes me wanna leave work at noon, go home and just “vedge.”  Arh, dang it… I just got my car washed 2 days ago too!!!  I’ll call my 6 year old nephew to wash it again for $5!!!
Sports = I’d like to the Lakers wrap up the series tonight against, Denver “Chicken” Nuggets.
TV = 10 o’clock is usually my bed time… (yes… I’m old…)   but I think I’m going to stay up until 11:30 tonight.  Jay Leno’s last show tonight.  In case I fall a sleep, I got it TiVo’d.

Did you know, 29th is 肉の日 (ni ku no hi.)  Get it?  Ni = “2″, Ku = “9″… Niku = “meat.” The Meat Day!  Sorry - I have to admit, I have no idea what this day means or where it comes from… but a lot of Japanese restaurants serving meat, shabu shabu, steak, burger etc on their menu are having lunch and dinner specials.  Oh, what time is it!?  It’s noon!  Time to get me some Niku for lunch!  Gotta go!  (took off with a trail of dust!)

It all shook up!

Monday, May 18th, 2009

For those of you living in SoCal - I hope everyone is okay from last night’s earthquake.   Magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook us up pretty good.  The local news channel said it was a “mild” earthquake…  Hm… Didn’t feel “mild” to me tho…  I broke 3 of my wine glasses at home, a DVD case fell down… Darn it, I had to rearrange the whole thing - Alphabetically, again *sigh*  and my favorite picture frame fell from the wall.  But I’m safe, alive and no injuries!   Here at the office too: I wasted no time to check on my advanced copies of Hey, Class President 2 as soon as I walked in.  *phew*  they are safe!  Oh, other than that - no fires, no structrual damages or injuries.  We did find some books on the floor though - but those were cleaned up in no time.

Thank you everyone for Hey, Class President feebacks.  Entry closes tomorrow at midnight pst.  Check back here on 20th for the free copy winner!

Thanks,

E-nteresting E-books at Emanga.com

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Hope everyone had a good Mother’s day.  For the past 10 years, I’ve done the traditional flowers and the dinner thing for my mom.  So this year, I skipped all of that and took her to a spa for the day!  The sauna, massages, facials, mani’s & pedi’s… Oh, and of course, my 801 manga for my reading material! We thought we’d never leave the place!  It was heavenly!  My books smells like Shea Butter now!

And today, I thought it was going to be a mundane Monday… but NO!  We have very exciting news!  Our emanga.com site relaunched today!  To make a long story short, it’s our online rental and manga viewing site.  I skipped my lunch hour to view and try this thing… and it’s really cool!  You can “try before you buy” - view some sample pages.  and You can also rent to read the entire book for 72 hours.  I know we are going to be adding more titles on a weekly basis, so be sure to check back regularly!  Meanwhile, if anyone has any questions or comments, you know where to reach me!  801-chan@801media.com
