Blue…errr… Red(?) Light Special?

Friday, September 28th, 2007

No, we aren’t talking about the TLC hit! But I guess some of the lyrics do fit the mood! “Baby it’s yours, All yours, If you want it tonight, I’ll give you the red light special.” *teehee* We are talking about those crazy sales that Kmart used to have before they went bankrupt…
This post is for those of you who can’t make it to Yaoi Con! For 4 days only, you can pick up Sensitive Pornograph, Love is Like a Hurricane Volume 3, and I’m Not Your Steppin Stone at the 801 Media Inc. store. After that, you have to wait for the official street dates!

*801-chan rustles up her best PA system voice.*

Katou or Iwaki? Decisions, decisions, decisions….

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

A few blog posts ago, we brought you news of some yaoi 2008 calendars being sold by Libre. The site was pretty skimpy on details and pictures *cough* *cough*. But looks like Libre had more information on the Haruduki/ He Hugged a Hooker/ Embracing Love calendars featuring its two hotties. The shrine to Iwaki is here. The shrine to Katou is here. And the main calendar info page is here. Now if only that little video would pan a little farther to the left and down like 2 inches! What a tease! And I never thought a guy eating a burger could be sexy.

T-shirts…t-shirts…ugh

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Okay, okay, okay… I have an appointment on Thursday with a printing company to price out the 801 Mafia shirts. We have two designs.

Design #1 is Jen’s contest winning T-shirt! (I still need to send her prize… Okay, I have been really slacking.) We had to modify the design because it had too many colors. More colors = more money. So here is the final design. We feel it still captures the spirit. Top is the front, bottom is the back.

Design #2 is our own original design. We told our graphics guy to have fun and just make sure that the t-shirt (1) was subtle enough that people could wear it outside a convention (2) yaoi enough to make us proud and (3) cute enough to make us blush. I think the up-side down heart as the nose of the skull is sooo adorable. And the eye patch reminds me of this one manga I read back in the day where after a “messy incident” the poor little uke had to wear an eye patch the next day at work!!! Mwahhhh! That was a dirty book!!! Again, the top is the front and the bottom is the back.

So I am working on it! Really! I swear!

Countdown to Yaoi Con: 801 Suite Party!

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Tomo-chan, Kampai and I are counting down the days to Yaoi Con and our 801 suite party!!! Of course the first thing on our list is the food! So for those of you who went to the party last year and those of you who are coming to the party this year, any ideas? Last year we had:

  • Cake
  • Cold cuts and cheese
  • Dinner rolls
  • Crackers
  • Veggies plates
  • Chips and Salsa
  • Candy
  • Drinks: Diet, regular and water
  • Goldfish crackers
  • Fruit tray

We will probably do something similar with hopefully the addition of a shaved ice machine! If we can’t get Mr. Wasabi to give up the machine, we are thinking of doing homemade popcorn with different flavorings so you can customize your own. Anyhoo! Let us know if you have any other ideas.

When the cat is away….

Monday, September 17th, 2007

…the mice will play.

As mentioned in our previous post, Kampai is out sick today. Well, she got a huge package from our printer about 10 minutes ago via FedEx. Tomo-chan and I being the considerate colleagues that we are, felt compelled to open it. Just to make sure there wasn’t any time sensitive material in it, really!

*teehee* Look what I got!!! Mwahhh! So I swiped these copies and then just taped the box closed again. O.o I guess the printer shorted us one copy? Or rather it is justice for when Tomo-chan and Kampai hid my sample copies of The Sky Over My Spectacles and Ichigenme…The First Class is Civil Law. Yes, I can hold a grudge for months, baby!

Kampai’s out sick today!

Monday, September 17th, 2007

*teehee* Kampai is out sick today which means…. time to raid her desk! Mwahhhh!

Everyone complains about how messy my desk is, but really, Kampai’s is just as bad.

I mean, seriously, how can she find anything!!! And she complains about me “hording books under my desk,” but check this out.

What is that behind all those boxes?

Those aren’t books are they? Hmm…. looks like someone is holding out on us… And not only does Kampai horde all the books, but she hordes all the magnets too! This is her filing cabinet and what is on the side?

Magnets! All the magnets on sale at the 801 store. Yup, every time we get an order, I have to go over and beg Kampai for one!! But Kampai does have a few redeeming qualities and one is she always keeps a stack on 801 books on her desk for “easy access.”

Ahhh, aren’t they cute?

Road Trip!!!

Friday, September 14th, 2007

A few of the forum members have been asking to see pictures of the 801 Media Inc./ DMP office space. There was also some talk about a road trip down and a lot of the forum members were interested in a “back way into the office” and our “warehouse space,” which sounds pretty fishy to me… But we here at 801 Media Inc. aim to please, so here is a virtual tour!

Starting off in the parking lot, there are two entrances to the back stairwell. Our loading dock is here:

But as you can see, the door is usually down. But the guys that rent the first floor of the building always have their bay open. So we recommend you enter here!

So once in, you end up on the back stairwell. We think the 2nd floor is inhabited by ghosts. We always hear strange noises coming from that floor, but we have yet to actually see a person enter and/or leave. Very creepy…

So make your way up the 3rd floor and you end up at the back door!!!

The only one back here is our warehouse manager and his occasional part time helper.

As mentioned on the forums, our warehouse manager really likes bonsai! Here is a close-up of a fake one in his office. You can see that the partition obstructs his view of the warehouse making it easy for people to sneak in and out. Not that anyone would…

To the left of the door is where all of the books live. The 801 one books are soooo cute, but take up very little space. We sold a lot of Love is Like a Hurricane and My Paranoid Next Door Neighbor recently, so the shelves are totally empty!!! And as you can see, each book comes in a different colored bag!

Our buddies at DMP have tons of books that go on and on and on for rows!!! (Kampai, we have some catching up to do!!!!) You might notice that their shelving situation is comprised of tons of AAA Anime books. We got them for free from our buddies over at AAA. Tomo-chan and I went to visit one day, and they gave us a whole pallet of boxes as long as we promised to call before coming over in the future. (Sadly, every time we call to visit now, they are really busy or off at meetings. We might just have to start dropping in unannounced again.) Sadly, the boxes messed up the bags that our books come in, so we gave the boxes to DMP. :(

So that completes our virtual tour of the back warehouse!! Come back next week and we will go over the location of BoyzRule’s desk, the bathroom and the 801 shrine. We will also have a poll on who has the cleanest desk, me, Tomo-chan or Kampai!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

*teehee* It is a new month at the 801 Media Inc. store, which means a new book for sale! Swing by and pick up your very own copy of Love is Like a Hurricane Volume 2. Poor Mizuki… You would think the poor, little uke would have learned his lesson by now. But it looks like Azuma has some more “training” to do! *lol* You can purchase the book here for 10% off, or you can find it at your favorite retailer later this month.

Happy Reading!

Reason #569 why I wish I lived in Japan or at least had a Japanese OS…..

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Looks like Spray - the makers of Gakuen Heaven and a bunch of other yaoi PC and console games - has a new game out in Japan called Kichiku Megane!! Glasses!!!!!!! Be still my beating heart. As you all may know, I have a huge weakness for bondage and glasses, go figure. Anyway, you can find the Spray game site here (Japanese text) with a pretty cool trailer. (It is small but cool.) And the download section has the opening movie, a short demo and then what looks like a sample of the game. Libre is also adapting the game into a manga series illustrated by Fuhri Masasagi. You can check out sample pages on the Libre website here (NTWS - depending on where you work). The special section has sound bites to the game along with some cool shikishi’s that Masasagi-sensei drew. And finally the CG section has sample graphics from the game!!!

I am soooo jealous!!
